Capoeira Comes to Kerry
Capoeira Performance at Killarney Outlet Centre
Sunday 28th February at 2pm
On Sunday 28th February, the Killarney Outlet Centre will host a special Capoeira performance at 2pm.
Brazilian instructor ‘Testa’ is the first Capoeirista to bring this unique Brazilian Martial Arts performance to Kerry. This interesting performance will combine elements of martial arts, music, and dance.
In Capoeira, participants form a roda, or circle, and take turns either playing musical instruments, singing, or ritually sparring in pairs in the center of the circle. The sparring is marked by fluid acrobatic play and sweeps, kicks, and headbutts. Created in Brazil by slaves brought from Africa sometime after the sixteenth century, Capoeira has great influence on Afro-Brazilian generations.
Paul Sherry, Manager, Killarney Outlet Centre said “It is a pleasure for Killarney Outlet Centre to host this performance by some very talented people. Killarney Outlet Centre is home to many demonstrations and exhibitions, which offer a unique and interesting experience for the many shoppers and visitors to the centre.”
The Capoeira performance at the Killarney Outlet Centre promises to be very exciting to watch as participants will leap from the ground, and seem to defy gravity at times. The show at 2pm on Sunday 28th February is one not to be missed.
